vacaValiente

Founded in 2006; based in Buenos Aires, Argentina

As a design lab from Argentina, a country of vast cattle ranches, it is perhaps not surprising that we work with recycled leather and that our name means “brave cow.” Many of our forms are reduced to a minimalist geometry, the result of research into techno-morphology. We explore the relationship between form and structure based on specific laws of nature. Through this design strategy, we celebrate eco-sustainability, functionality, efficiency, and beauty. Some products have a strong symbolic identity, related to essential social practices in contemporary life, a few of which now seem in danger of extinction: writing from the heart, keeping a diary, or cooking for friends. Designs by vacaValiente are innovative not only in form, but also in the functions they propose. This attitude means designing from the strengths and material sense of an idea, and adapting the material and technology to the design.
