Various crafts in Venezuela are disappearing under pressures and influences from outside of the country. We believe that “design” as a tool must be used to ensure that our ethnic and artisan communities survive and are able to create new products for the contemporary market. Within this context, our plan has been to focus on preserving and sustaining indigenous Venezuelan craft—fused with the rainforest which in turn reaffirms the essential values of our culture and traditions. The MáximaDuda design lab allows for the exchange of knowledge, skills, and creativity.
