Studio MK27 in collaborations with Isay Weinfeld, Manuela Verga and Paolo Boatti

Born in São Paulo, Brazil 1952;

lives and work in São Paulo, Brazil

Studio MK27 was founded in the early 1980s by architect Marcio Kogan. The firm, which is made up of more than twenty architects, is known primarily for the formal simplicity of its residential and commercial projects. However, Studio MK27 has also participated in furniture design and fine arts projects in collaboration with other artists and designers such as Isay Weinfeld, Manuela Verga, and Paolo Boatti.

In its project with Weinfeld, Happyland and Happyland Vol. 2, the studio critiqued the violence, kidnappings, traffic accidents, and lack of urban planning endemic to the greater São Paulo area.

The series Prostheses and Innesti, produced in collaboration with Verga and Boatti, represents a mindfulness of the wealth of ingenuity displayed in anonymously constructed works, which are then modified by discrete interventions meant to evoke an effect of contrasts, prolong their lifespan, and offer new meanings and materiality.
