José Castrellón

Born in Ciudad de Panama, Panama, 1980; lives and works in Ciudad de Panama, Panama

My sensibility as an artist comes from the transformational forces of society, and as a photographer, I identify with cultural changes and the impact they have on different places. I am attracted to the cultural influence of others and physical changes in urban or rural spaces brought about by commercialism and urban construction. I am drawn to anything that generates change—in people or their way of life. My goal is to document cultural modifications and gauge the way in which people evolve within their societies. I see my work as a poetic testament that captures the vestiges of cultures and the impact of transformational events.
